After working with the staff at Back and Neck Care Center, what does she think of her career?
“I know that I could have been much better.” Ashley says.
Unfortunately, Ashley’s dreams of playing professionally were derailed in 2013 when she suffered a season-ending ACL tear. Ever since that injury she says that she never felt quite right when she returned to play.
Two months ago, Ashley came to the Back and Neck Care Center to take part in our Elite Biomechanical Exam. The staff welcomed her and proceeded to take her through the exam beginning with our state-of-the-art 3D foot scan from Foot Levelers.
“From that single scan, they calculated the arches on my feet and the poor posture my body has been holding for the past umpteen years. Being a health and fitness junkie, it was neat and disturbing at the same time, to know that my body has been crooked and I've been functioning at less than my full potential.”
Since her initial exam, Ashley has been fitted for customized orthotics and continues to get adjustments, benefit from therapy, and has begun a strength training program to get her aligned and playing like the world-class athlete she is.
Taking a look back at her career Ashely wonders, “If I would have taken action years ago, to get adjusted, to wear proper orthotics, and to train the way an athlete needs to be trained, I may have not injured myself, and I may be playing professionally overseas or in the states.”
Ashley currently coaches youth soccer and runs her own training camps, when asked what wisdom she wants to pass on to youth athletes, she replied, “If you are serious about playing, you need to take care of your body and surround yourself with professionals like the doctors and performance coaches at the Back and Neck Care Center. Take action now to prevent injuries and improve your performance.”
